Boy, that one turn at the BUMS track in Long Beach is really a killer. Just look at all those kids crashing off that corner. Luckily, no one was hurt. Photos by Scooter Bee.

Today at BUMS was great...great turnout...great track...and of course, great trophies.

There were three divisions of Pee Wee class today with the top three of each division going to the main. Out of Division Two came Ramon Carzares, winning both his qualifiers and also the main. Ramon will be riding Beginners now and should place well even in the big Beginner battle. Second to Ramon and also out of Division Two was Ted King riding for Haley's "King of Bikes". Third was Jeff Bull, usually a spectator. Today was his first try at racing and he did alright. The combination for winning Beginners class today was 2-thirds, a fourth and of course, first in the main. Doug Branard figured it out today and put it to 'em in the Main. Doug is riding for Haley's "King of Bikes" in Long Beach and will soon be ready for Novice ranks!!

Second in the main was Danny Alverdo qualifying out of Division Four with a 7th and a 2nd. (4 Divisions of Beginners and 3 Div. of Pee Wee must have been some good close racing!!) Third was Chuck Red of Division One, qualifying with two seconds.

Winning the main over a bunch of bloodthirsty Novices is usually tough, but for Don Graham it looked effortless. He won both his qualifiers easily and the Main was in the same fashion..smooth. Don will also be happy (sure) to know he will be riding Intermediate as of now. There was a good battle for second with Ryan Autry taking it. Ryan is another rider sponsored by JIM SNOW Ford of Cerritos and is improving a lot lately. The loser of the battle but winner of a trophy was Rick Henry on a trick Schwinn. It seems to me that most of the winners are on Schwinns but yet Schwinn doesn't make a set up motocrosser. Very strange that Schwinn family!

It looks like Rick Parent is back in the swing of things and winning again after last week's fourth. Rick had little trouble winning but that trouble was from 2nd placer, Rick Davis. Rick was really flying this week on his super CZ bicycle...(He wishes it was a CZ)..He has been going steady for the last month or so. He should be a threat for most any Expert!!

And in third was last week's victor, Norm Byers riding for Hy-Jinks Yamaha. Norm had trouble in the first moto with a flat tire. He fixed the tire for the 2nd and 3rd motos but could only manage third overall. Fouth was Don Gorme on his Junker special!!!!

Don't forget Saddleback is opening June 15th. Also BUMS...we have a resident photographer to take your picture any place on the track, .the prices are low, too.
