This Sunday the Over the Hill Gang and the Old Timers met on the field of battle to see which club was tops. When the dust cleared, it was found that the Old Timers had won out, but not by much.

Both clubs ran two motos with the top seven in each division transferring into the final competition. When the final points were tallied, the Old Timers came out with 285 and the Over the Hill Gang had 273. Only 12 points separated these two clubs. Not much, but enough to cinch the win. The funny thing was that the Old Timers gained the advantage by dominating the Beginner, Novice, and Amateur ranks, not the Experts and Master like expected.

As for the Experts, Larry Shoemaker took the overall win with Old Timer John Maroney taking second on his powerful Maico. In the Expert ranks of the regular racing, it was Hal Strauss again winning on his Cole Brothers Maico. He was rocketing on his super swift bike, topping the entire class.

His main competition came from Mike Lacy, riding a Husky for West Cycles. These two really were flying around the fast Indian Dunes track, but young Lacy couldn't put it past Strauss. Third place fell to J. Haroutunian riding a Bul. The Open Expert class was a simple affair. Chris Bartlett took the win in this class on his Horizons Unlimited 400 Penton. His only competition came from Bay Area's Skip Kreps, making a rare racing appearance.

In the 125 Expert class, Tony De La Torre brought out his C.H. Industries prepared, Mid-Valley Cycles Honda. This young man has finally found a 125 he can ride and go fast. He took the win by beating out Gary Huber on his Cole Brothers Honda and George Viens on his Revell's Honda.

The Mini dass had a full turnout. In the Expert bout, it was Mike Marshall taking the overall win with his YZ from Sport Time Yamaha. He was moving pretty fast to beat out Scott Boek, riding an XR-75. In the x4 and over Expert class it was Bobby Jones taking the win on his Hacienda Honda.

Rea Glemie took the overall win in the Women's division by beating out Lori Viens, who was riding a swift Honda.

All in all it was a fun day. There was a group of boys that was brought out and CRC, the Old Timers, and the Over the Hill Gang all chipped in and bought them Tee-shirts and goodies for the entire day, showing them that motorcyclists aren't bad guys like the movies portray.

Now the Old Timers have a 4 foot perpetual trophy that will be passed on to the winning club each year.
