De Anza's track was in super condition and made for some great racing and today-was also M.V.M.C.'s 100 percent trophies day so everyone went home with some brass. Starting out today's action were the 250 and Open Beginner's and Juniors and jumping out in front was Don Davis on a Maico stretching his lead until his throttle gave him some trouble and put him out With Davis out, M. Riley took top honors in the Open Junior class. Matt Myers was the story in the Open Beginners race as he took the class win over Keith Wisegarver and John Buzton in that order. In the 250's Sam Hill won the Junior class and Keith Vondersaar the Beginner class.
When the combined Minis and 100's got under way it was the Mini Experts taking the top three spots with Bobby Hart, Joe Spangler, and John Silva battling for the top honors in the class. Hart took the overall win, while Spangler grabbed a well earned second and Silva a third. The Mini Junior win went to Honda-mounted Chris Scott. Gordon Ward Jr. put in three first place finishes to take top brass in the Mini Beginner race. Peter Hollack was able to get it together the last two motos and collected second for the day. Meanwhile the 100's were all having some kind of trouble or another and it ended up being who's bike could hold together. David Terrell came out on top with Ralph Turnbull grabbing second and Danny Rood third.Butch Baker put it to the 250 Experts today as he won all three motos to collect second spot on his CZ. Jeff Kitz rode his first Expert race today and won the 500 Expert class hands down. 125 Expert, Doug McGowen picked up another win today, while Herb Carbaugh grabbed second.
James Burrow done a grand slam number on the other 125 Beginners by winning all three motos easily. Taking up the second spot was Steve Ackerson with three seconds and nipping at his heels for third was Jeff Spoor.
Allen Williams made a clean sweep in the 125 Intermediate class, followed by John Ward and Dan O'Rourke. Taking the 125 Junior class after a long absence from racing was Keith Parks on his trick looking Honda. Mark Lester went WFO to grab second spot ahead of Danny Burtt on a Suzook.
