CRC at Indian Dunes
Friday November 8, 1974

Continuing to present a motocross racing program every Friday night on the International track at Indian Dunes Park, the CRC has stuck right in there through thick and thin.

Though down a bit in rider participation this particular week, watch out for next week's show. Most of the other circuits nave now concluded their nighttime programs and Thunder Mountain Reservation should draw a heavy crowd, who will be watching the proceedings on a course with an all new layout! That's right, kiddies; we're going to work on it.

All Intermediate and Expert wins this evening were gained by the grand slam route; victories in three straight heats. Among those collecting the big score were Brian Alexander, 125 Int. (Hon); Steve Hicock, 125 Ex. (Hon); Dave Dick, 250 Ex. (CZ), and Randy Stubbs (Bui), who slid to a triumph over Cole Hastings (Hus) at the Open Expert level.

George Viens, who rides for Revell Two Stroke of Sun Valley, established a new record tonight at Indian Dunes while racing his Honda to it's sixth straight overall victory against the 125 Novice division. The previous record for the class had been five straight 'overall' triumphs.

Among those finishing closest to winner Viens were Steve Lodge (Hon), Mike Reina (Hon) and YZ rider George Faber.

Steve English (Bui), who dropped the first heat event for 250 Novices to Chris Leiker (Hon), staged a big comeback in the final races, winning both by long yardage to take home the biggest trophy for his division. Runners-up were Leiker; Lance Hornack (Bui); Ron Kasowski (Mai) and Jim Stallings (Hon).

Open Novice winner with three straight triumphs was Maico rider Ken Salmen. Those finishing back up the -course to Salmen included Lou Peralta (Hus), who rolled for three straight second place tallies over Jack Hindall on a BSA "thump" and CZ rider Mike Bergin.

Beginner victors were Tim Lanam, lOOcc(Yam); Scott Berg, 125 (Hon); Mark Greening, 250 (Kaw) and Dean Jensen (Hus), who gained a one-point decision at the Open classification.

Don't forget: the smoke and the motocross warfare this Friday night rolls under the lights at8 o'clock. Be there early and get a good seat!! The conflicts should be outstanding.

Mrs. Viens, thanks for those delicious cabbage rolls. They were fantastic!!!! It only serves to show you; it's not how you eat that counts....it's what.
