AME MX at Indian Dunes Park
The latest in the C.H. Industries stable is Tracy Oswell, who is back on his old 250 Penton. Track looks good, so expect to see more of him soon. Hatounian photo.

AME president. Jerry Snore, couldn't have predicted better about the weather as the rain never came today at Indian Dunes for the second half of the American Motocross Enterprises "Twelve-hundred dollar weekend". The track could have hardly been considered dry, thanks to heavy rains the past week, but turned into a traction-plus course by mid-afternoon, thanks to the sun.
Top Pro riders Luke Messer, Billy Payne, and Ray "The Rocket" Lopez took top honors in their catagory for top money of the day. Messer did it in the 500 with a first and a second, Payne in the 250 with a first and a second and Lopez with a clean sweep as usual.Ray Lopez was on the move, as he won the 125 Pro class again out at Indian Dunes during AME's S600 purse race. The Precision Cycle master Maico pilot, Luke Messer, backed up his Friday night win with a win today. Luke probably was in a little doubt of an overall after Bay Area Bultaco-mounted Bryar Holcomb, put on a hard charge that took him to the first moto victory. Holcomb had the worst happen in the second as while holding down second in the early part of the moto, took a fall and broke his leg. Bryar was just getting back into it and this was his first ride on a Bui in a while. No telling how long he'll be out.
Bryar Holcomb was flying high when his balloon burst and he broke his leg. It is too bad, as Bryar was just getting back on the Buls and looking good. Hatounian photo.
Messer had the second moto pretty well under control anyway as his lead was big, early and thoughout the moto. Don Hicks played his cards right and took second overall for the day on his Cole Brothers Maico. A really good nde. Third fell to Randy Stubbs on a Bay Area Bultaco. Stubbs also broke one of his shocks in the first round.
The powerful force of the Revell combination, Billy Payne and a 75 CZ, hit the Indian Dunes course with a stand out win, to no one's surprise. Billy was so far out in front in the fist moto that I mistook him for last when he was really lapping riders. Newly sponsored C.H. Industries rider, Tracy Oswell, is back on his familiar machine, a Penton and led the second moto from start to finish. Oswell didn't make the money as a first moto mishap while leading, kept him down. Bay Area Bultaco-mounted Steve Roark rode hard all day and garnered second place overall.

Third fell to the most consistent AME rider I know of, Cole Brothers Maico rider Gary Huber. Still keeping up his winning ways with AME is Ray Lopez and his rocket 125 Honda, tuned by C.H. Industries. Ray was about to encounter a serious challenge in the first round by FMF rider, Tim Lunde, until Lunde's bike went belly up, shattering a piston. From there on, Lopez had no worrys as he was unchallenged for the rest of the day. If I^inde had stayed in, it could have turned out to be a very interesting race. Another Lunde did make it into the overall results. Tim's brother, Chuck, put together a 3-3 score for second overall. Pasadena Honda star, David Taylor raced to a 4-2 score for third.
Craig Egerman is making his return to racing riding Mike McAtee's 125 Honda. Craig has been off for b months. Hatounian photo.
Taking another win in the 100 Expert class was Gardena Shoe Repair rider, Tommy Luera (Hon) who has yet to be beaten in this class. Any challenges?
Returning back into the racing scene this week was Popular Cycling's Scott Zimmerman, who trounced the troops for the overall 125 Junior class win. Luck was not with Scott in the last moto as he lost his chain on the last lap. His 1-2-4 score was still good enough for the overall win.
Here is an interesting photo of Chris Hatounian taking a picture of himself. Aren't you cute Chris. Why aren't you out in the mud taking pictures? Hatounian photo.
Taking his second ride as a 125 Intermediate and second overall win was Bill Ovellette, sponsored by Suzuki of Van Nuys. He was turning lap times on his Suzuki of 1:15.
