A beautiful Easter Sunday greeted the CMC racers here today at Saddleback. The weather was perfect and it would've have been a , great day to have an Easter Parade, but who wants to go to an Easter Parade when you can come out and watch CMC Motocross?

In the 125 Pro class the first moto went like this: Danny LaPorte grabbed the holeshot with Warren Ried right on his tail. Chuck Lunde held third over Alan Smith, who was running fourth. Lunde held off a fast closing Smith for awhile, but Smith soon slipped by him. That put Smith in third. LaPorte held off FMF racer, Reid, for the remainder of the moto, to take first. Reid had to settle for second this moto and Smith hung on for third.

Things were a bit different in the second moto as Reid put it to everyone at the start including LaPorte, who was right on Warren's rear fender. Soon Reid and LaPorte were way out in front and were having a duel that was a spectator's delight LaPorte was never more than a couple of seconds behind Reid, but Reid held him off. This race for first overall lasted right to the finish with Warren taking the checkered just seconds before LaPorte. Consistent Alan Smith finished with another third. Reid collected first place cash with LaPorte second and Smith third.

The first 250 Pro moto got under way with Moiser jumping into the lead. Jeff Vidic was right there in second with Rocket Rex third. The top three were followed by Mark Gillman fourth and Husky mounted Robert Hannah fifth. In a short time Rex was by Vidic to take second and drop Vidic to third. Hannah moved into third position after getting by both Oilman and Vidic. Meanwhile Moiser was having a time of it holding off Staten and near the end of the race, Staten moved on by. No one could challenge Rocket Rex. Hannah ended up third with Gillman fourth and Vidic.

Moiser got the start in moto two, again, Staten second, Vidic third and Hannah fourth. On the first few laps, Hannah gets Vidic for third. After a good first moto ride, bad luck hit Moiser as his handlebar broke in two. That, of course, let Rex take over first and he just ran away from everyone. So much for first overall, Hannah is riding a good race in second as is Vidic in third. And that's the way moto two ended. By the way Moiser went on to finish the race, broken bar and all. How about that?

Action in the 500 Pros was that Factory Kawasaki rider, Gary Semics came from behind both motos to score a clean sweep with two first places. Rubly, who got the holeshot in both motos, finished second with a second in both motos. Yorba, now on Maico, took home third place cash with thirds in both motos. Jeff Eierstedt also scored a grand slam in the 500 Intermediate class with two first places on his Bultaco. John Dickensen second and Chuck Pettigrew third mounted on a Maico.

Mike Loper, who got a second last week at Carlsbad with stock rear suspension, put on a T&M swingarm and a pair of Koni shocks for today and it must've worked as Loper picked up the 125 Junior Division one win today over Mark VanCamp, who won the second moto. Kym Kirschenmann got third with a 6 and third place finish.

John Hormuta won both motos in the 500 Junior to take the overall win over Hockey Van Zant (second) and Jim Potter, who got third on his Husky.
