It looked as if Terry Clanton wasn't going to rule the 100 Junior class as he had, lo, these many past weeks. Jeff Maas, Suzuki mounted, after two rounds, was tied with Terry with points, each with a win and a second place finish. But coming into the final round, it was all Terry for yet another win in the 100 Junior class Division one. Talking to Terry after the races, I asked him when he was going to move up, he said "probably next week, my sponsor is putting together a super-fast 125 Honda for me." I certainly hope so, I believe the young man can move up rapidly through the ranks. Read More...

Every once in a while the weather presents a few problems. Whether it's the mud the wind or whatever, it seems like it usually bothers me more than it does anyone else and occasionally I add a little too much sensationalizm by exaggerating the natural phenomonons. So in the case of tonight's AMC Motocross race, I'll just say that there was a light fog that hovered over the track.

Today was really pretty strange. At first, Saddleback Park was completely fogged out, I was in the pits and I couldn't even see the hillsides that surrounded the track. It wouldn't be that good for the • racers but it would really be hard for a flagman to warn an approaching racer if someone would of happened to fall on a comer. Some people pulled off of the track, Mr. Deley, for example, gave his son Luc the cane when he felt that it was kind of unsafe to race his CZ in the fog. Read More...

Boy, am I tired! Whew! Racing for those ever precious Coliseum HS Qualifier points really gets you pooped. But that's racing, and RACING it was. By the turn out in today's RTMC race, you can get a very clear picture as to how many people (uh, urn, high schoolers...) want to get to the Super Bowl of Motocross HS bash-a lot!
Let's see-now, for confusion's sake, the RTMC gang decided to separate the Qualifier racers from the usual Rolf riders. Smart, there's no way you can get mixed up in something like that. With three races of 125 Juniors and Intermediates, a couple 250's and 500's. Experts and HS Experts, it should come out to a very long day. But it sure didn't seem like it as most everything went smooth, as typical of RTMC.

As I said after going to the first District 37 motocross at Valley, "It's going to be a fine year for District racing," and I wasn't wrong. The crowd today was great. It wasn't as large as the one the Dirt Diggers had, but it was a good size.
As usual, there was competition in all classes with some pretty good dueling going on. The biggest class of the day was the 125 Novice class, with over 40 riders on the track at once. Even with a flock of riders like that, there were no mishaps.

It seems as if Kel Frank's bike is going to be the scourge of the 125 Pro class again, this time with Dan LaPorte as the driver. Dan and Dave Williams traded wins and second place finishes with the win going to LaPorte because of his superior last moto placing. This year's CMC No. 1, Mike Bell, took third overall ahead of recently turned Pro Tony Wanket and Bob Blase. With the exception of LaPorte's Franks all were Honda mounted. Read More...

Five-hundred dollars, fifty-percent trophies, a three mile tough and challenging Grand Prix course and the sanction of BCA was what brought the troops out to Indian Dunes last weekend for some hot and heavy racing. Bill Tilstra, of BCA, worked out a course with three water crossings, alot of sand and a motocross track full of jumps and terms and topped it off as being the most well prepared course riders could dream of. The racing was always good. Read More...
