CMC-MX at Saddleback Park

It seems as if Kel Frank's bike is going to be the scourge of the 125 Pro class again, this time with Dan LaPorte as the driver. Dan and Dave Williams traded wins and second place finishes with the win going to LaPorte because of his superior last moto placing. This year's CMC No. 1, Mike Bell, took third overall ahead of recently turned Pro Tony Wanket and Bob Blase. With the exception of LaPorte's Franks all were Honda mounted.

It's hard to tell whether Doug Sherman rides for Wheelsmith or Rams Express, but either way, he sure can make his Maico go fast. Molletta photo.

Robert Hannah has burst his way in the 250 Pro class scene in a big way. Mounted on his Husky Hannah turned in a steady 3-2 score for the overall win. Dave Carlson won the first moto followed by Jeff Vidic, both were on Maicos. The second moto was taken by Rex Staten who only managed an eight in the first moto. Hannah was second in that moto followed by Bill Clements on another Husky and then Dave Carlson. Carlson took second overall followed by Clements and then Rex Staten.

Doug Sherman headed the 500 Pro class where the first three places went to Maico. Doug was followed at the pay window by Bill Rubly and Luke Messer. Bill Clements, riding both classes, was fourth overall on his Husky followed by Jeff Jennings on a CZ.The way Doug has been riding lately it's a wonder someone doesn't pick him up and take him to the big races.

Racing around at CMC Saddleback was fun this week, but all the big names were gone that have graced this track since December. Molletta photo.

With 86 Pro riders out today the total purse was $860. Next time here at Saddleback there will be a $1,000 purse with the regular close racing. Non-pro results are following. Look them over to see who's hot in the best and fastest club in California.
