A big group of fast Experts showed up to do battle at the A.M.E. by-weekly go on the challenging hill course. Ray Topham a Trans-AM rider on a Competition Cycles Maico, had his hands full holding off the likes of Tun Blattenschlag on a Maico, Tracy Oswell on a new C&H Penton, Mike Todd on a Mid-Valley Ossa, and Jeff Wright on a new air oil shock CZ out of Mid-Valley, just to name a few out of the 250 class.

All the Experts went together, and Mike Todd got the hole shot on the Ossa; with Topham close behind, and Oswell & Wright working their way up from back in the pack, about 10 minutes into the 30 minute moto. Todd did an endo at the bottom of the back down hill, and Topham took the lead, meanwhile Oswell had moved up to second and Wright had moved up to third, Oswell tried to get Topham but it was not in the cards and Topham got the moto, Oswell held off Wright to take second followed closely by Wright for third.

The Open class with Randy Berkeley on a Mike's Racing Center Maico and Don Hicks on a Cole Bros. Maico, and Dennis Hazelett to name a few were going to get at it, after a later flag off, Berkeley was able to take the moto from start to finish with Hazelett second after Hicks had trouble. Doug McGowen on a Southland Cycle Suzuki took the moto in the 125 class, Kenny Jones was second on a Honda, and Tom Ivera on a F.M.F. took third.

It was a different story at the start of the second 30 minute moto as Oswell & Wright took off up the hill bar to bar, and just left everyone else in the dust, Oswell had the lead and Wright was trying to put his wheel in first inside then outside, they were a full straight away in front of Topham and the pack, Oswell's bike expired under the pressure and Wright went on to win the Moto, with Topham second which gave him the overall win, with a first and second, Wright took second money, Tim Blattenschlag picked up a fourth and third to take a well earned third money.

Berkeley took the second moto in the 500 class which gave him the top spot; Dennis Hazelett was second. Tom Ivera picked up the first spot in the last moto of the 125 class, which gave him the win in the class, as McGowen had trouble and didn't finish, Jones took second.

The Old Timers, 250 Beginners, 250 Juniors, 250 Intermediate, and 500 Beginners were combined together, with two separate starts. Big Jim Lloyd on a Husky, beat out a tired Dick Wright on a Ossa in the Old-Tuners class. John Field on a Bultaco got three firsts to take the 250 Beginners dass over Rick Hatfield, on a Honda. The 250 Junior class was taken by Larry Minor on a S.B. Cycle, CZ Mike Slater looked fast winning the 250 Intermediate class on his Maico.

The 100 Junior, 100 Beginners, Powder Puffs and Minis all went in one moto.but three different starts. Mike Shen. put together a second and two firsts on his hot little Honda to take the Mini Juniors, David Dieterlf did the job on them in the Experts, also Honda-mounted, Prescilla Burgess, took the Powder Puff class, John Whelchel took all three motos in the 100 Junior class riding a Suzuki, out of Suzuki of Van Nuys, a flat tire didn't slow him down a bit. Dawny Burtt got the gold in the 100 Beginner class.
